Halstead & Essex Marathon

2008 will see my 3rd running of this race. The last time I ran it was in 2006. This is an excellent, well organised race, with nice extra touches. These include taking runners special drinks and placing them at the water stations for collection on the way around. The race takes place on an undulating course through pleasent countryside and i can throughly recommend it.

This is my local marathon and I have been a regular there for the past 5-6 years. The size of the field has increased from around 200 to 800 in that time, testifying to it’s good organization and welcoming atmosphere. It is a rural 2 lap course, set in gently rolling hills on small country lanes. This makes it undulating all the way round, so you need to prepare well for it.
Organised by marathoners for marathoners, it is in it’s 14th successful year (2008). It welcomes runners of all abilities, has excellent start and finish facilties, excellent and friendly marshalls and a nice medal!
