Lake Geneva Marathon

Read about this race in Runners World in the mid nineties…that it was one of the toughest marathons in the country, but was chosen by Runners World in the early nineties as the best small marathon in the country…did it in ‘05 and could not believe the beauty of Lake Geneva in Wisconsin….god it was tough though….the first half was easy but then we all hit killer hill at mile 16…unbelievable….the race director lives at the bottom of the hill and the pain….well everyone in my group was walking….great spirit at the event ….super pre race pasta feed…great post race lunch at a local bar with a great view of the lake….have been back since to enjoy the beauty of the lake and the lake has a legal walking trail around it that tourists can enjoy year round…fantastic

Hey….did this race in 2004 and had a blast. Did what everyone suggested and stayed the whole weekend in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. I went out slow with the regulars who told me about the hills. Sucked it up Frank’s Killer Hill at mile 16 and hung on to finish a great race. Pre and post race dinners and parties were great…stayed and soaked up the Lake Geneva Karma my friends told me about and did not want to leave on sunday. And I just found out that I can enter the Lake Geneva Marathon free as I was one of many who were not allowed to finish the Chicago Marathon this year…how cool…yes I’m going back to beat Killer Hill again….
