Turtle Marathon

I ran this in 2008 and had a great time. The course is an out and back along a highway, so the surface is very good. It’s a small field so you’re a genuine chance at a place, but the trade-off is there’s not a great deal in the way of support. I had absolutely no problems though, and the race director Bob Edwards is one of the nicer guys going around. Possibly one of the more interesting finisher’s ‘medal’ too – it’s a ceramic turtle.
If you can get there, it’s an experience I’d reccommend. I travelled all the way from Australia, and I’m very glad I did.
